A near-fine first edition, in the original binding. A previous owner's name has been written inside the front cover, and there is a small tear to the title page. Otherwise fine. In a very good unclipped dust jacket, with a small tear to the bottom of the front cover, near the spine, and another small tear to the bottom of the back cover. Some minor wear to the corners, and some very small tears to top and bottom of spine.

About the book

The master of a Victorian mansion dies suddenly and his sister is convinced it was murder.

When Cora is savagely murdered with a hatchet, the extraordinary remark she made the previous day at her brother Richards funeral suddenly takes on a chilling significance.

At the reading of Richards will, Cora was clearly heard to say: Its been hushed up very nicely, hasnt itBut he was murdered, wasnt he?

In desperation, the family solicitor turns to Hercule Poirot to unravel the mystery.

About the Author

Agatha Christie

Born in Torquay in 1890, Agatha Christie began writing during the First World War and wrote over 100 novels, plays and short story collections. She was still writing to great acclaim until her death, and her books have now sold over a billion copies in English and another billion in over 100 foreign languages. Yet Agatha Christie was always a very private person, and though Hercule Poirot and Miss Marple became household names, the Queen of Crime was a complete enigma to all but her closest friends.
